We were asked to style for a photoshoot in London and Devon recently after we were handpicked from one of the UK's top editorials and photographers. We arrived on site to a bunch of old silver and black minicabs. It was drizzling, with a what only can be described as a theatrical sky as the backdrop, which is exactly what the photographer was looking for in a traditional black and white shoot.
We started sorting out the denim and collaborated closely with a really great new stylist and designer (who specialises in vintage-inspired 90s esque t-shirts and jackets) swiftly establishing a range of looks that matched the ambience.
Usually, before a shoot, everything is already outlined out and organised, we know exactly who is going to be wearing what, nothing is left to chance, everything is on schedule. Here, we were specifically asked to plan as little as possible, which is actually quite terrifying - but exciting. There was a pretty hefty subconscious clock ticking in the background from the moment we arrived, which helped drive the creativity forward. The gorgeous clothes, surroundings and how well the models worked with us and each other, we managed to generate a look that married the divide between smart and casual.
I'd say this was the most fun we'd had on a shoot and we've already worked out another collaboration to be scheduled early in the new year, this time in a very different location.
